Tribute to Todd

Today was the memorial service for Cpl Todd Godwin. It was a good but sad service. Hundreds attended and the message of salvation was clearly preached. On the way to the graveside service for Todd, we passed many people waving flags, saluting, or just holding their hands over their hearts. The Zanesville City Police and the Muskingum County Sheriff's office had shut down key streets in Zanesville to allow smooth passage of the long procession. It was comforting to see all the people come out of their places of work and pay their respects. On the last road before the turn into the cemetery, the city of Zanesville placed this flag over the road.

Bush Twins Visit Ohio Statehouse

W Stands for Women!!!

Today the Bush Twins made their first visit to Ohio campaigning for their father. It was the largest crowd that Jenna and Barbara had ever addressed and they both looked very nervous. I think they did a fine job and it was great to see them in person. They both were sincere and approachable. The crowd was mostly women since they were there to get more women involved, but somehow a few men managed to nab a seat. Former Speaker of the  Ohio House of Reps Joanne Davidson and First Lady Hope Taft also were speakers at the event.

I wanted to ask Jenna about this, but never got the chance...

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Godwin family.

Postcards, Postcards, Postcards!!!

Postcards have been my pasttime lately. Ohio campaigns really like their postcards. I am sick to death of addressing postcards and i still have 3 1/2 months to go. AHHHHHHHHHHH!

My motivation for working on the postcards was spotting ACT members(for those who aren't familiar with ACT they are a liberal group rounding up voters for Kerry and they have been known to employ felons. they are afflliated with Moveon.org, which is another awful organization sponsored by bonehead actors who don't know the first thing about politics) in our neighborhood. They even had the audacity to stop at our house and ask my sister some questions for a "survey". As soon as they found out that she was going to vote republican they left. They didn't even offer to help her register to vote. Humph.

Insomnia

Saturday, our sunday school class went to Cedar Point. It started out rainy but it was a blessing in disguise because it kept a lot of people away. The longest wait we had was an hour for the raptor. We had a great time and like always ran into someone from BJU. Unfortunately the lines were too long for the dragster and the millenium force, so i have yet again missed a chance to ride the best coasters in the country. Below is a pic of the dragster. The Top Thrill Dragster is a whopping 420 feet tall and in order to get you to the top you have to go 120mph in four seconds. I have never see anything go so fast. We stood under the track of this ride and watched the cars go over us. You could see sparks coming off the track. and it was great fun to watch the people get thrown back into their seats. they didn't even have time to scream. After the cars would pass the top of the loop, the whole track would sway. It was so awesome. Next time i go back i will definitely wait in line.

Sunday was a slow day, I was so worn out that i took a very long nap in the afternoon, and now i can't sleep, hence the 1:00am post.

Indestructable Dog Toy

I got off work a little early and instead of cleaning like I planned to do, I ended up playing with Frankie. For all those who have pets who have a tendency to destroy toys in hours, I highly suggest the Kong. Frankie has had hers for several months and she has not been able to put a dent into it. We had trouble with her chewing her toys and then choking on the pieces. The Kong is a little more expensive but it lasts forever. Plus it keeps her teeth clean!

Visitors

Sooo what does a person do with people visiting Ohio for the first time??? Take them to a driving range of course!

It was the first visit to Ohio for my friend Erin and her husband John (john has been to the buckeye state before, and he kept rubbing it in that he was born in Michigan). So I did what any good ohioian would do...took them out to eat and then shopping! Of course what visit to Buckeye Country would be complete without a drive by of the...

Followed by an exciting hour at the Four Seasons. Our original plans included a visit to the zoo to see Jack Hanna, but it was way too hot. It was great to see them and I promise a more exciting visit if they ever come back!
