The Elephant's Trunk

Well, the employees at the House of Representatives got an unexpected surprise today. The speaker announced that we would have wednesday and the day after new year's off. That means that in the last two weeks, I will only have worked four days! I feel like I am in college and enjoying my christmas break! So that means that I need to come up with a shopping strategy for tomorrow! Easton, here I come.

Ugh! the first day back to work from a long break makes for a long day. I am so glad that i only have to work two more days this week. :) Which means that next monday will be a long day too!

On my lunch break, I came across this article on Mona Lisa Smile.

I hope everyone had a great christmas!! I ate way too much turkey, and slept a lot too. I didn't get out of bed until after noon. Though i wasn't actually sleeping that long. My sister gave me this awesome book for Christmas. I stayed up late reading it and got up early to finish it. In the old days when i was younger, I used to be able to stay up all night to finish a book. Alas, the years are starting to catch up to me.

Five days until Christmas and I still have yet to start shopping, Yikes!!!! I am not motivated enough to go to the crowded malls and fight the lines. Nothing like waiting until the last minute.

This week has been so slow after last week's marathon House sessions. Speaker Householder gave us an early christmas present though... 2 days off and a (hopefully)raise. Though both are still rumors.

I have yet to start christmas shopping, but i do believe that i now know what i am going to get everyone. Right now i am more excited about the opening of LOTR the Return of the King than shopping. (i can't believe i just wrote that!)

Now for a totally different subject....the capture of Saddam Hussein.

Well, another week has gone by and I still haven't started my christmas shopping. AGHHHHHHHHH! I have no idea what i am going to get everyone.

The good news is that the Return of the King comes out this week! The bad news is that i promised i would go with my friend who can't go until the week of Christmas. I have been brushing up on LOTR trivia and watching the first two extended versions.

Today was a very interesting day to end a very interesting week. Other than the fact that it was actually busy on a friday at the statehouse, I took my lunch hour to go hear Alan Keyes speak in a rally for the ten commandments in front of the statehouse. He is really a great speaker, but I still hold a twinge of a grudge for some comments he made while speaking at BJU. You know the comments that started the whole "bash BJU for their rules because i want to make sure i get my name in the news so i can become the next President" thing. Unfortunately for him, JOhn McCain was a little more popular with the media during the 2000 election, and picked up on the BJU bashing and therefore was credited with it.

Anyway it was a really great speech on how we need to get back to the constitution and hold are elected officials more accountable. It pretty much boiled down to once we start taking care of things locally it will carry on to higher levels.

UPDATE......

Whew, the last two weeks have been crazy!!! My family spent thanksgiving down at BJU. We watched the turkey bowl, went to a hockey game, and also watched Macbeth. The play was awesome.

Good News about my atm card incident! THe atm machine sucked it back in and it was shredded the next morning. I recieved my new card with no problems.
